The state has taken another step to find out who leaked critical John Doe testimony from a former probe into Governor Scott Walker's recall election campaign.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel says a Justice Department attorney seized documents from the state Ethics Commission this month, before the department reviewed Supreme Court records last week. Republican Attorney General Brad Schimel says whoever leaked the secret John Doe testimony broke the law. He's trying to find out how The Guardian newspaper obtained 13-hundred pages of secret testimony which showed that a maker of lead contributed 750-thousand dollars to the Walker recall election campaign before lawmakers protected lead paint makers from liability in poisonings. The John Doe focused on the Republicans' campaign funding mechanism in the recall contests.
