Adam Hady, Agriculture Agent with UW-Extension Richland County, will be at the Black River Falls Public Library on Tuesday, March 28 at 6:30 p.m. to present Backyard Chickens.
Ideas will be shared for successful backyard chicken coops for egg layers and broiler chickens. Adam has years of experience raising poultry both commercially and with his family's backyard hobby flock. The collaborative effort with UW-Extension Jackson County will be a great opportunity to showcase the Small Animal Project Livestock Auction and share information with members of the public interested in starting a backyard flock. Hope to see you there!
The event is an extension of Jackson County Reads, a program designed to encourage reading for pleasure and foster dialogue within our community. Community members are encouraged to read the 2017 selection “Coop: A Year of Poultry, Pigs and Parenting” by Michael Perry. The author tells stories of family, neighbors, and life in rural Wisconsin, along with the joys and sorrows that touch all our lives.
The public is invited to a free presentation by Michael Perry on Friday, April 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Lunda Theater sponsored by the Friends of Black River Falls Public Library. More information is available at the Black River Falls Public Library or on the library website, www.blackriverfallslibrary.org.
