(Burlington, WI)  --  Burlington police say the levels in Echo Lake will be lowered to stop the erosion which threatens the dam.

All We Energies electric customers are said to be back online and it's been determined that city of Burlington water is safe to drink.  Heavy rains caused the problems.  Local officials say they won't drain the lake, but they are doing a partial drawdown after an opening was spotted along the dam, saying the dirt embankments are quickly eroding.  The Fox River crested earlier this week at an all-time record 16-and-a-half feet.  Flood stage is 11 feet.  Several roads were closed and Governor Scott Walker had declared a state of emergency for Kenosha, Racine and Walworth counties.
