UPDATE--Contractor Working For Verizon Broke Gas Line, Caused Blast

Madison-based Bear Communications in charge of a fiber project for Verizon Wireless when the gas line was punctured in downtown Sun Prairie Tuesday.

  That accident caused the gas leak which led to the fatal explosion and fire.  Bear says one of its subcontractors was working at the site, but adds that there are many questions yet to be answered about what happened and why.  No Verizon employees were present as the work was being done to improve its wireless network.
