The Barron County Sheriff's Office says a 21-year-old Douglas County man faces homicide and kidnapping charges in connection to the Jayme Closs case.

Sheriff's officials say Jake Thomas Patterson was arrested on tentative charges of kidnapping and two counts of first-degree intentional homicide. Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald says Jayme Closs escaped a residence in Gordon. He said investigators believe Patterson planned his actions to carefully hide his identity. Sheriff's investigators say they believe Patterson killed Jayme's parents because he wanted to abduct her. Sheriff's officials say Patterson had no criminal record. Deputies say Jayme managed to escape from a cabin on Thursday and approached a woman who was walking her dog. That woman alerted a nearby neighbor, who called 9-1-1. Sheriff Fitzgerald says Closs was medically cleared, is out of the hospital and is being interviewed by law enforcement.
