An Iowa County District Court judge has declared a mistrial in a first-degree homicide case.
The jury in the trial for Austin Valdez wasn't able to reach a verdict and the judge made the mistrial declaration Friday. Valdez is accused of killing his mother's husband March 24th. He told investigators he was protecting his mother and didn't shoot to kill. Although Valdez says he was aiming for Robin Reeson's shoulder, he hit him in the chest and Reeson died.
