A Dodge County Circuit judge has sentenced a Beaver Dam man to three-and-a-half years in prison for injuring two police officers as he was taken into custody last year.
Jessie Garcia was initially arrested on suspicion of an O-W-I and resisting officers. When he was released from custody, he got back in his vehicle while he was still intoxicated and drove from Watertown to Beaver Dam. When officers caught up with him, they say Garcia wouldn’t cooperate. One officer was injured when Garcia reached for a knife and, a few minutes later, he headed-butted an arresting officer. The Department of Corrections recommended probation, but District Attorney Kurt Klomberg wouldn’t agree.
