(1/17/13) FORESTRY AND PARKS COMMITTEE MINUTES
January 8, 2013
The regular monthly meeting for Jackson County Forestry & Parks Department was held at 8:30am on Tuesday, January 8, 2013. Those present were: Bill Cornell, Merlin Fredrickson, Karen Thayer, Charles Jensen, Norm Stoker, Jim Zahasky, Jon Schweitzer and Ashley Stetzer.
Bill Cornell called the regular meeting to order at 8:30am
Motion made by Norm Stoker, seconded by Charles Jensen to approve the minutes from the previous meeting. All members voted in favor.
Motion made by Charles Jensen, seconded by Merlin Fredrickson to approve the bills as presented for payment. All members voted in favor.
Parks & Trails Report:
Jon updated the Committee on current winter projects. Staff will be cutting approximately 10 cord of firewood to get 2 years ahead for the Parks. Bid specs for a new Kubota UTV will be going out, and a new dive platform at Lake Wazee will be installed.
Jon will also be working on rehab grants for 2013. Grooming was taking place up until last week, snowmobile trails are now closed. The ATV trails remain open at this time.
Jon has completed The Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan, still needs to be finalized.
Jim asked permission to go out for bids to plant approximately 243,000 trees. Motion was made by Charles Jensen, seconded by Karen Thayer to solicit bids. All members voted in favor.
Jim discussed what items needed to be purchases in 2013. Motion was made by Norm Stoker to go out for bids on a new Forestry truck and new laptop. Motion was seconded by Karen Thayer, all members voted in favor.
Motion to go into closed session made by Charles Jensen, seconded by Norm Stoker. All members voted in favor.
Motion to reconvene in open session made by Charles Jensen, seconded by Merlin Fredrickson. All members voted in favor.
Motion to adjourn made by Merlin Fredrickson, seconded by Karen Thayer. All members voted in favor.
Meeting was adjourned at 10:05am
