Marshfield Man Sentenced to Six Years

(11/6/13) A Marshfield man has been sentenced to six years in prison for tossing gasoline on a pregnant woman, and punching her in the stomach to try-and-get her to miscarry.

24-year-old Tyler Ress is already at the state prison in Waupun on an unrelated conviction.  His new term will begin when his old one finishes in two-to-three years.  Also, he has to spend four years under extended supervision when he's no longer behind bars.  Prosecutors said Ress held a lighter near the woman, threatening to set her on fire.  He was convicted in plea deal on Wood County charges that included reckless endangerment, false imprisonment, and strangulation-and-suffocation, and attempted abortion.
