(6/11/14) Black River Memorial Hospital (BRMH) has been named to a top 100 list of great community hospitals by Becker's Review based on community hospitals' accolades, quality and service to their communities.
The hospitals listed have fewer than 550 beds and minimal teaching programs. Some are located in suburban areas, but many like Black River Memorial Hospital, are found in rural areas and serve as the only hospitals in their communities. "Whether independent or part of a larger health system, these hospitals have continually worked to provide the quality of care and the experience patients deserve and expect," the report stated.
Black River Memorial Hospital employs more than 300 employees, including contracted workers in anesthesia and pathology. The hospital was named a Top 100 Critical Access Hospital in 2014 by iVantage Health Analytics and a Top Performer in Wisconsin in Pneumonia and Surgical Care Performance Measures in 2013 by The Joint Commission. It also received a 2013 Studer Group Excellence in Patient Care Award, among many other accolades.
CEO, Mary Beth White-Jacobs said, "It is wonderful to receive recognition for our performance and I am even more grateful to work with medical providers, staff, and volunteers who are giving such excellent care to our patients and our community. We have been working very hard toward outcomes that will sustain this hospital for future generations."
