BRMH Honored with 17 Patient Care Awards

(7/3/14) Black River Memorial Hospital was recognized as a 2014 top performing hospital in inpatient and outpatient services during an awards celebration held on June 10, 2014 in St. Louis.

  Healthcare leaders from across the United States gathered to participate in the 2014 PRC Excellence in Healthcare Conference hosted by Professional Research Consultants, Inc. (PRC).

PRC award winners are recognized annually for their achievements in improving patient experiences, healthcare employee engagement and/or physician alignment based on perceptions obtained through surveys of patients at BRMH.

"We are so proud of Black River Memorial and are thrilled to present them with these National Excellence in Healthcare Awards," said Joe M. Inguanzo, Ph.D., President and CEO of Professional Research Consultants.  "These awards are proof that BRMH is committed to improving healthcare. It takes years of dedication, determination and hard work to achieve this level of success. Congratulations to BRMH and its staff for improving healthcare services throughout the Black River Falls area."

Some of the awards are based on the hospital's performance on the HCHAPS survey. HCHAPS is the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems is the standardized survey instrument that Medicare uses to measure Medicare inpatients' perspectives on hospital care.

"Getting feedback from our patients is very important to us [BRMH] to ensure that we are giving excellent care to each patient. It is wonderful to have our staff recognized for what our patients are saying about us," stated Kim Chandler, quality manager.

To be a PRC award winner, hospitals are judged against all other healthcare organizations in similar categories within PRC's nationwide databases.  PRC Top Performers must score at or above the 100th percentile within their particular comparison group, while 5-Star Award Winners are identified as the top 10 percent (at or above the 90th percentile) of PRC's national client database. 4-Star Award winners are identified at the top 25 percent (between the 75th and 89th percentile).  More specific awards criteria and information is available online at www.PRConline.com/awards
