Man Arrested After Tomah Standoff

1-23-12

A 22-year-old Missouri man is in jail after a nearly seven-hour standoff with police in the western Wisconsin city of Tomah.

Tomah police responded to a complaint of an intoxicated man with a firearm at the Super 8 motel around 2:30 a.m. Sunday. They say they contacted the 22-year-old Kenneth W. Roark of Seneca, MO in a hallway and he retreated into his room.

Tomah Police say officers set up a perimeter and tried to talk to Roark before they eventually used chemical agents to flush him out.

Roark is being held in the Monroe County Jail on suspicion of endangering safety while intoxicated with a firearm, failure to comply with police, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct with a dangerous weapon.

Police say no one was injured
