(1/23/12) On Tuesday, February 7th, the Tomah Chamber of Commerce, Tomah Rotary and Tomah Journal Newspapers will hold a Mayoral Candidates’ forum at the Ground Round Grill and Bar at 12:00 p.m. in the banquet room.
The forum is open only to Rotarians and Chamber Members. Reservations are required and lunch will be served by the Ground Round for $11.00.
“The goal of this forum is to help our local business leaders understand where each candidate stands on issues that are important to them,” Chamber Executive Director Chris Hanson said. “With area businesses representing approximately $210 million in property tax base, the business community’s voice is extremely important to these candidates.”
The format of the forum will be simple: La Crosse Tribune/Tomah Journal Editor Chris Hardie will moderate and ask preset questions from the Chamber’s Government Action committee as well as questions from the floor. Each candidate will have a timed opportunity to answer the question. All questions from the audience will be collected by Mr. Hardie prior to the beginning of the event.
The Tomah Mayoral race has four candidates, requiring a primary election on February 21st. The candidates: Matthew Boyea, Shannon Hough, Nellie Pater and incumbent John Rusch have each been invited to attend.
Once the primary election has been held and the race is narrowed down to two, the Chamber will host a forum open to the general public. More details will come out closer to the event.
