Dairy Herd Health Clinic

(1/27/12) A Dairy Herd Health Clinic will be offered on February 16th, 2012 from 10:00am-3:00pm at two locations in western Wisconsin,

the Log Cabin in Bangor and Co-op Credit Union in Black River Falls.  The clinic is targeted toward dairy producers and professionals who would like to learn more about effective management tools and strategies for raising calves, heifers and cows on the dairy farm. The workshop, offered by the UW-Extension offices of La Crosse, Monroe, Trempealeau, Jackson, Buffalo and Vernon counties, will feature the following topics and speakers:


  • Dr. Randy Shaver, Professor UW-Madison and UW-Extension, Dairy Nutritionist, Topic: “What are we learning about starch for dairy cows?”
  • Tina Kohlman, Dairy and Livestock Agent- Sheboygan County ,  Topic: “Raising Healthy Calves in Cold Weather”
  • Pam Ruegg, Milk Quality Specialist,  Topic: “What is happening with mastitis and antibiotic resistance on Wisconsin farms?— Real Data from Real Cows on Real Wisconsin Farms”
  • Steve Huntzicker/Trisha Wagner, Agriculture Agents from La Crosse and Jackson County, Topic: “Dairy Farming Today: Keys to help you lead your dairy business”


Pre-registration is needed to get an accurate meal and handout count! There is no cost to attendees thanks to our sponsors.
