(2/14/12) On Monday, February 13th, Black River Memorial Hospital honored employee Curtis Tessman, Medical Laboratory Technician, with a Send Off Party, as he prepares for his Deployment to Afghanistan.
Sergeant Curtis Tessman is a member of the 82nd Agribusiness Development Team (ADT), Wisconsin National Guard’s first unit formed to work with local Afghanistan farmers on improving their farming methods and support activities/education to expand legal agriculture. The 82nd ADT is made up of 60 Wisconsin Army and Air National Guard members who have spent the last year preparing for this deployment. Pre-mobilization training will take place at Camp Atterbury, IN., at the end of February with deployment to Afghanistan scheduled for late March.
Tessman has served in the National Guard for 11 years. “I serve because I enjoy it and want to be an example to the young men serving with me. I want to be available to them if and when they need someone to talk to about the difficult situation,” says Tessman. His wife and four children ages 10 to 25 cannot wait for his return next April.
Black River Memorial Hospital thanks Curtis and all the service men and women for their dedication to our country.
