(2/29/12) The Best Western Arrowhead Lodge Orange Moose worked with the Partners of BRMH to hold a Valentine’s Sweetheart Specials Fundraiser.
The event was held from Saturday, Feb. 11 through Tuesday, Feb. 14 at the Orange Moose Bar and Grill. Special dinner choices were offered. A portion of the cost from each meal was donated to the Partners group. Partners of BRMH donate funds to the hospital for medical equipment and provide health education to area youth.
Live music was provided by jazz ensemble “Duane, Margie and Friends” on Saturday and Tuesday nights. Margie Fait, the group’s vocalist and a Partners member stated, “The musicians who worked with Duane (Fait) and I were all college music grads and donated a portion of their time playing for this fundraiser, as did Duane and I. Our pianist, Chuck Chihak, brought his wife, Regina along and she played lovely music on the flute; so fitting for the evening.” Fait went on to say, “With a great bassist, Cully Swansen, supplying the groove, we had a great time playing together.”
“It was a wonderful way to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. The music was fantastic that night and we enjoyed it a lot. We went back on Tuesday night, too,” said Marilou Peterson of Alma Center.
Gabe Hedke, manager of the Orange Moose Bar & Grill, was a primary organizer of the event, and decorated with table linens and flowers. “We wanted to give something back to the community. It was fun to do this with the Partners. We definitely want to take part again and even increase our numbers next year,” he stated.
“We appreciate that a group like the Partners helps in a lot of different areas of need. It takes special people to be so giving of their time and talents. I’m glad we could do this and look forward to doing this again,” said Gerry Gadke, Best Western Arrowhead Lodge General Manager.
