Bond Set for LaCrosse Man

(3/12/12) La Crosse man is due back in court Friday morning on charges that he strangled a woman who wanted to buy crack cocaine from him.

A one-million-dollar bond has been set for 44-year-old Izelia Golatt, who was charged Friday with first-degree intentional homicide in the slaying of 35-year-old Kristen Tabbert-Rodgers. Police said she met Golatt to buy drugs – and surveillance video showed that the two were leaving a convenience store parking lot. Another video showed that Golatt and Tabbert-Rodgers went directly to an alley behind an auto repair shop, where a scrap metal collector found her body a few hours later. Investigators said she was bloody, and marks on her neck revealed that she was strangled. The La Crosse Tribune said Golatt spent eight years in prison for a second-degree murder conviction in Illinois in 1993. His record also includes sexual assault and drug charges.
