Eau Claire Women Charged

(3/14/12) Two Eau Claire women face criminal charges, for letting a 16-year-old girl baby-sit seven younger children for 10 straight days.

27-year-old Natasha Carter has been charged with four misdemeanor counts of child neglect, and 26-year-old Rachel Hoyt faces three similar charges. Both are due in court March 29th. Human service officials in Eau Claire County were tipped off while the 16-year-old baby-sitter was watching seven kids ages 2-to-6 in March of last year. A friend of the baby-sitter told officials that she was originally asked to watch them for three days while the parents went to Chicago – but that period stretched out to 10 days. Carter reportedly told authorities she had a hard time dealing with the seven kids, and needed a break. In the meantime, the teen had put the six-year-old in charge of changing diapers for the toddlers – and the teen was watching her own child at the same time.
