(3/27/12) After going almost five years without a murder, La Crosse has had two of them in March. The second one happened yesterday afternoon.
Police said a 20-year-old woman called 9-1-1 to say she was shot-and-wounded at her home on La Crosse’s south side. She died later at a hospital. Police are trying to determine if it’s connected with another shooting reported 20 minutes earlier at a house on the other side of town. Police said a window was shot out while the residents were inside, but nobody was hurt. The state Justice Department is helping La Crosse Police investigate. The other slaying in March occurred three weeks ago, when a 35-year-old woman was killed in a drug-related incident. The alleged killer was later arrested and charged.
