(4/3/12) Plans are underway for the Black River Falls Rotary’s Annual Service Above Self Award and Fundraising Banquet to be held on Friday, April 27th at Castle Hill Supper Club.
The Black River Falls Rotary Club announced the 2012 Service Above Self Award will be presented to the Jackson County Wildlife Fund. The Service Above Self Award honors an individual or organization to recognize people who truly embody the “Black River Spirit” – through their generous gifts of time and resources. This award is an expression of Rotary’s deep appreciation to the recipients for their years of exemplary service, outstanding leadership and unselfish dedication to enhance the quality of life in the Black River Falls Area.
The Jackson County Wildlife Fund, a local organization, is dedicated to the enhancement and protection of Jackson County’s natural resources. Rotary President, Sheriff Waldera commented, “JCWF is a very deserving recipient of this award; their resources help young and old enjoy all of what Jackson County has to offer.” Annual projects include youth fishing days, student scholarships, donations to local sportsmans clubs, and many other wildlife projects in and around Jackson County.
Waldera went on to say, “This year’s Rotary event not only gives us the opportunity to acknowledge JCWF for all they have done for Jackson County, funds raised at this years’ banquet are going to help with the new Musco Lighting at the Marks Field Complex, a large project that the Black River Falls City Parks and Recreation Department has been working on for some time.” The new lighting will provide greater safety for the over 400 Little League players it serves.
Tickets are available from any Rotary member or any of the following financial institutions: Black River County Bank, Co-op Credit Union, or Jackson County Bank.
