2012 Farmer's Market Season

(4/3/12) The 2012 Farmer’s Market season is right around the corner!

Since 1998 the Black River Falls Community Farmer’s Market has brought local producers and customers together. By purchasing from the local producer, you are helping the local economy, and knowing a little more about how your food is grown and produced. Strolling through the market you may even find something new to try, and the producer will usually be more than wiling to share a recipe or two. Since 2010 the Community Farmer’s Market has accepted Quest EBT Cards, WIC and Senior Nutrition vendors have also been a part of the market. We will again also be participating in the 'Friends Sharing' food pantry program.  I f you would like to donate to the food pantry, a drop off basket is located at the Market Saturday Mornings.

As one of the founding members of the Wisconsin Farmers Market Association, the Black River Falls Community Farmers Market supports community agriculture. According to Market manager and Wisconsin Farmers Market Association President Joe Williams “The demand for locally produced food where the consumer knows the producer is growing at a rapid pace, and Farmers Markets are a great opportunity for everyone involved. We are looking forward to an early start for the market this year due to the mild spring.”  The Community Farmers Market is held every Saturday morning usually beginning about May 1st from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM in the front lawn area of Scholze Ace Home Center.   The market is also open on Tuesday afternoons from 2:00 – 6:00.

The Black River Falls Downtown Association also sponsors a Farmers Market Downtown on Thursday evenings. That market is held on Third Street between Main and Fillmore. The 2012 market hours will be 4:30 – 7:00 PM
