OVER 100 CURRENT AND RETIRED STATE EMPLOYEES, AND MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC WITH PLACARDS GATHERED AT THE ENTRANCE TO JACKSON CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTION MONDAY AFTERNOON TO VOICE THEIR OPINIONS ON THE RAMIFICATIONS OF WHAT THEY CALL HAVING COLLECTIVE BARGAINING RIGHTS TAKEN AWAY.

 

ACCORDING TO THE PROTESTORS, GOVERNOR SCOTT WALKER ALL BUT ELIMINATED ANY INPUT CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS AND OTHER STATE EMPLOYEES MIGHT HAVE REGARDING WORKING CONDITIONS, WORK RULES AND SAFETY ISSUES WHEN HE TOOK AWAY COLLECTIVE BARGAINING FOR EMPLOYEES.  THEY SAY ASSAULTS ON CORRECTIONAL STAFF STATEWIDE HAVE RISEN DRAMATICALLY IN THE PAST FEW MONTHS AND THE PRISONS ARE FEELING THE IMPACT OF BEING SHORT STAFFED
