(4/13/12) Federation Coop Board Chairman Roger Hansen & Hixton Fairchild Farmers Coop Board Chairman Bill Jacobson have lead discussions on unification of both companies.
The focus of the talks is how we add member value first and foremost. Identifying areas of cost savings, duplication of assets, driving efficiency, savings on insurance and the list goes on.
We have been down this road before, and after just two joint board meetings we are formulating a new business plan and moving forward with unification. Depending on when this newsletter reaches everyone, we will meet or will have met for the third time on April 12th and will be working out legal issues with attorney Joel Dahlgren who works primarily with coop’s, coop law and all issues that surround life in the coop business model.
Our plan is to have informational meetings in mid June, have the members vote in early July and have the start date of the unified companies Oct. 1st.
These are historic and exciting times for the member owners of both parent companies. Adding member value are our marching orders and basis of this unification.
