Community Garden Now Accepting Rental Applications

(4/18/12) Interesting in growing some of your own fresh produce?  Want to learn more by gardening with others?  Tired of the deer eating the fruits of your labor?  The Spaulding Road Community Garden is now accepting plot rental applications.

No gardening experience?  Don’t have the tools for gardening?  The Spaulding Road Community Garden has you covered.  Beginning and experienced gardeners alike are welcome at the garden.  Often those new to gardening find lots of help and ideas from others at the garden.  There are plenty of tools to share; all you need is the passion for growing and harvesting the fruits of your labor.  All gardeners are also invited to gardening workshops held monthly at the garden covering various topics and allowing gardeners to discuss their questions throughout the growing season. New to the garden this year will be raised garden boxes for those who garden from a chair or standing.  These boxes will be wheelchair accessible.

A Community Garden open house and informational session will be held on Friday April 20th from 2:00 -3:00 p.m. at the Jackson County Extension office.  This will be an opportunity to ask questions about the Community Garden, make suggestions for the 2012 gardening season, find out what is new at the garden this year, and meet the other gardeners!

The garden is located across from the Lunda Park on the corner of Spaulding and Ryebluff Road.  For $15.00 you can have your own 20x20 foot plot for the year and grown your own fruits, veggies or flowers.  Find plot rental forms at the Jackson County UW-Extension office, and area businesses including Scholze’s Ace Hardware, Moe’s Hardware, Black River Falls Public Library, Black River Falls Chamber of Commerce.
