Plans are underway for the Black River Falls Rotary’s Annual Service Above Self Award and Fundraising Banquet to be held on Friday, April 27th at Castle Hill Supper Club in Merrillan, WI.
Funds raised at this years’ banquet are going to help with the new Musco Lighting at the Marks Field Complex, a large project that the Black River Falls Parks and Recreation Department has been working on for some time.
The Bob Teeples field will get Musco’s Green Lighting System. A system that promotes
safety and a special lighting direction to keep “ off field spillage” to a bare minimum. The East Field will receive new poles and the lighting fixtures from the fairgrounds field.
The overall cost of this project could reach $80,000.
Jackson Little League was established in 1954, and has continued with the tradition of providing a safe environment and a fun atmosphere while sponsoring the great game of baseball/softball.
It has been the goal of Steve Peterson, City Parks & Recreation Director, to get the surrounding communities involved with the Little League program. The goal has been reached, and it is growing! Hixton, Alma Center, Melrose, Mindoro, Taylor, the
Ho-Chunk Nation, Ettrick, Blair and Osseo are all involved in the program. Player numbers have grown to over 1,000 participants and about 90 teams.
Steve Peterson says, “having so many teams provides a unique challenge for scheduling. But it all gets worked out and it sure is fun to see all of the many different community members getting together to watch kids play ball.”
Please help Rotary support this very worthwhile project! Banquet tickets are available from any Rotary member or any of the following financial institutions: Black River County Bank, Co-op Credit Union, or Jackson County Bank.
