(4/19/12) During National Medical Laboratory Week, April 23-27, 2012, Black River Memorial Hospital specially recognizes its laboratory professionals and celebrates their dedication as a crucial member of the health care team, collaborating together to improve patient care.
From small practices in rural communities like Black River Memorial Hospital to metropolitan hospitals, more than 300,000 medical laboratory professionals deliver accurate test results every day and serve as part of the health care team to guide and assess patients’ ongoing treatment and care.
Using state-of-the-art technology and instrumentation, laboratory professionals perform and supervise tests that lead to the detection of potential health problems; the sooner a disease is caught, the likelihood increases for a positive outcome. Services that are available at the Black River Memorial Hospital Laboratory include: transfusion medicine, coagulation (INR), hematology, chemistry (cholesterol), microbiology, immunology and urinalysis.
“I salute our outstanding Black River Memorial Hospital laboratory professionals for delivering accurate results for patients. They are the cornerstone of diagnosis and an integral part of the larger patient care team,” said Timothy Vue, Laboratory Manager at Black River Memorial Hospital.
