(5/1/12) Two men were scheduled to make their first court appearances in La Crosse this afternoon for the killing of a woman, and another incident which involved a drive-by shooting.
19-year-old Kong Vue and his 21-year-old uncle Pao Vue are both charged with homicide and attempted homicide. According to prosecutors, Kong Vue told police that he went to Sara Hougom’s apartment in March to steal a purse – and he shot the 22-year-old woman when she confronted him. Hougom was apparently able to call 9-1-1 from her cell phone before she died at a La Crosse hospital. The two men are also accused of committing a drive-by shooting in another part of the city, just moments before Hougom was murdered. Police said bullet casings were recovered from both crime scenes – and they matched those from the same .22-caliber handgun.
