(5/11/12) On May 10, 2012 at 15:32 the Jackson County Emergency Dispatch Center (EDC) paged for a structure fire on Pettibone Pass which, is located in the Township of Komensky, County of Jackson. The address was W8904 Pettibone Pass and is known as the Joseph Hall or King of Thunder Homestead property. The property is Bureau of Indian Affairs Tribal Trust Land.
At the time of the page the EDC was reporting the structure was fully involved with fire. As the department was responding to the scene a large black plume of smoke could be seen to the east of the City of Black River Falls.

Upon arrival of the Department the structure has fully collapsed and there was also a wildland fire burning. The wildland fire was threatening another structure on the property. The fire was kept away from the second structure until WI DNR Fire Control arrived on scene and was able to plow a mineral soil furrow to stop the fire from advancing toward the structure. The Department was on the fire scene for 1.5 hours.
WI DNR Fire Control was also on scene for the wildland fire and helped with their bull dozer in extinguishment of the structure for the same amount of time.
The cause of the fire is not known at this time and damages are estimated are also not known at this time.
The structure was not insured.
There were no reported injuries during the fire by any civilians or Firefighters.
