(5/14/12) Women from the area discovered that laughter is the best medicine when they attended the first-ever Women’s Night Out event at Black River Memorial Hospital (BRMH) on Thursday, May 10.
The hospital hosted 250 women who laughed with comedian, Maria Ciampa of Boston, Massachusetts. Ciampa has showcased for Late Night with David Letterman, was voted best comedian in Boston, and is co-creator of the Women in Comedy Festival, now in its fifth year in Boston.
Amy Yaeger, Communications and Marketing Manager for BRMH said, “We’re honored that 250 women took time from all the pressures and stresses of being a woman to slow down, reflect, and to celebrate being a woman. We were surprised to have registrations coming in at a record pace.”
After the comedian’s show, women were invited into the hospital to learn about services available in Black River Falls from Black River Memorial Hospital, Krohn Clinic, Community Dental, Scholze Ace Home Center, Curves, Cobblestone Cottage, Molly’s Rude Awakening, Riverhaven Salon and Spa, Ripp Distributing, and Falls Florist. Women enjoyed socializing, snacks, and hand massages.
