Tomah Shooting Solved

Tomah Police have solved a March shooting that injured a 21-year-old man as well as a number of other crimes around the area. As a result, the man and two others are arrested on several charges each.

Police say that the victim, Holden Mayberry, admitted he shot himself in an attempt to get pain medications from local medical facilities.

On March 24th Mayberry told police he was confronted by two men along a city walking trail, one of whom shot him. He was taken to Tomah Memorial Hospital, and later a La Crosse hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries to the upper shoulder.

During their investigation, Tomah Police discovered that the gun Mayberry used along with two others were stolen during a March 23rd burglary in Tomah. The investigation turned up evidence that Mayberry and 17 year old Michael Newcomb were the burglars.

A third person, 18 year old  Ryan Coole was given one of the guns from the burglary
