(6/27/12) As forecasters predict the heat and humidity to intensify the next few days, Tomah Memorial Hospital is helping to protect area youth and adults from the dangerous rays of the sun.
The hospital has donated individual bottles of sunscreen to children and adults who visit the Tomah Aquatic Center.
Miller said when possible, avoid outdoor activities between ten A-M and four P-M when the sun's rays are the strongest and to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
Health care officials warn that unprotected skin can be damaged by the sun’s U-V rays in as little as 15 minutes, and that 80 percent of a person's lifetime sun exposure is acquired before age 18.
