(7/9/12) UW-Cooperative Extension is holding a Summer Fruit Field Day in Western Wisconsin.
The field day will be held on Monday, July 23rd, 2012 from 9-11 a.m. at the farm of Bill Brewer and Jane Esser. Bill and Jane have been producing fruit and vegetable crops for many years on their farm. This unique and quiet setting is home to a variety of small fruits and an established fruit tree orchard, all of which are grown organically. All fruit growers and those wanting to learn more about fruit production are encouraged to attend. Directions to the farm: from Bangor take Hwy 162 N, turn left on Hwy EE, and turn left onto Christopherson Coulee Road.
This free clinic provides an opportunity for fruit growers (organic or conventional) to meet with UW-Extension Fruit Specialists Rebecca Harbut (general horticulture) and Patty McManus (plant diseases); local UW-Extension Agents; and fellow fruit growers. A 10-15 minute presentation about raspberry care will begin this field day. Then we will walk the fields and talk about special challenges faced in 2012. Bring your questions as well as samples for diagnosis and discussion.
There is no cost for the Summer Fruit Field Day but registration is appreciated. Sponsors for the field day are: Buffalo, Jackson, La Crosse, Monroe, Trempealeau and Vernon County UW-Extension Offices.
