Hot Weather Impacting Blood Drives

(7/17/12) The dry conditions are causing a drought for another kind of liquid.

LaCrosse BloodCenter of Wisconsin Account Rep Dan Gordon says fewer residents are giving blood due to the hot weather.

Gordon says the severe weather is having a negative effect on blood donor participation as many people are staying indoors as much as possible.

Gordon said the BloodCenter is relying on donors to participate in their blood drives during these hot, sticky days, and reminds donors that drive sites are cool and comfortable.

Tomah area residents can donate blood July 26 from one to six p-m at Tomah Memorial Hospital.

Donors can call Tomah Memorial at 3-7-4-6-6-0-5 to schedule an appointment, although walk-ins are welcome.

Registration can also be made on-line at Tomah Hospital -dot-ORG.
