Patient Ratings Earn BRMH Four and Five Stars

(8/1/12) Black River Memorial Hospital recently earned two 5-Star awards from Professional Research Consultants, Inc. (PRC) for Overall Quality of Care for Inpatient care, as well as for Outpatient care in the Lab Department. The Emergency Department earned a 4-Star Award for Overall Quality of Care.

"The 5-Star designation is given annually to healthcare facilities, providers, outpatient service lines, and inpatient units that score in the top 10 percent of PRC's national database for the prior calendar year. These awards are based on the percentage of patients who give a rating of "Excellent" for the overall quality of care question," said Sue Pearson, Quality and Risk Manager for BRMH. The 4-Star award recognizes those who score in the top 25 percent in the national database.

BRMH's Laboratory conducts over 10,000 tests each year. Timothy Vue, Lab Manager at BRMH said, "We want each patient to have an excellent experience every time. Our staff is honored to be recognized for doing what they love to do. I am fortunate to work with such outstanding people."

"Earning our first 4-Star Award for Overall Quality of Care validates that our staff and procedures are working really well for the patient in the Emergency Department," states Carl Lash, Emergency Department Manager.

PRC of Omaha, Nebraska, has partnered with over 2,000 healthcare organizations in their quest for excellence. Every year, PRC speaks personally with more than one million households and recent hospital patients, as well as hundreds of thousands of physicians, hospital employees, and community members to learn about their patient experience.
