Caledonia police report foul play is not suspected in the death of a Racine woman who had been missing for four days.  The body of 22 year old Rebecca Ryan was discovered in a quarry yesterday.  Her family had reported her missing late Tuesday.  Searchers had found her backpack and police asked for the public's help in finding her.  That happened yesterday morning when an officer spotted the body in the Vulcan Materials Company quarry.  An autopsy will be done tomorrow.

Appleton police report Sergeant Greg Pieper (PEE pur) has been place on administrative leave while his fatal shooting of an armed man is investigating.  Pieper was reportedly responding to a report of illegal fireworks in a neighborhood near downtown Appleton when he was confronted by a man with a gun.  Pieper called for backup, then told the 61 year old man to drop his weapon.  When the man refused, Pieper shot and killed him.  Green Bay police will investigate the fatal shooting.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the Saturday crash of a small plan in a field near the Town of Burlington.  The accident reportedly happened about 4 p.m.  The Racine County Sheriff's Department reports the pilot and a single passenger suffered minor injuries.  The FAA is working to determine why the plane went down.

Small business owners are being invited to a seminar on ways to cut energy costs in Chippewa Falls Tuesday.  The event will start at 5:30 p.m. at the Leinie Lodge.  Trained experts will be on hand to share practical energy management ideas through demonstrations of things like installing energy-saving measures like lighting and vending machine controls.  Business owners will be told how they can receive cash back and incentives for making changes which will also save them money.  Xcel Energy, Focus on Energy and Chippewa Falls Main Street are sponsoring the seminar.

A La Crosse firefighter had to rappel from the Ward Avenue Bridge to rescue two children Friday evening.  The children, aged seven and 10, were not hurt.  They had become trapped in the concrete-walled waterway.  Emergency responders said they didn't know how the children had gotten in Pammel Creek in the town of Shelby.  The La Crosse Fire Department's Technical Rescue Team set up a rope system to lower the firefighter about 20 to the trapped children a little after 5:30 p.m. Friday.  It was determined the safest way to get them out was to walk them to the northeast end of the creek.
