(10/4/12) On Tuesday, October 23rd, the Tomah Chamber of Commerce, Tomah Rotary and Tomah Journal Newspapers will hold a Legislative Candidates' forum at the Ground Round Grill and Bar at 12:00 p.m. in the banquet room.
The forum is open to Rotarians and Chamber Members and reservations are required. Admission is only $11 and lunch will be served by the Ground Round.
Candidates for Tomah's State Senate and Assembly will be on hand to answer questions and present their platforms. 24th District State Senator Julie Lassa, challenger Scott Noble, 70th District Assemblywoman Amy Sue Vruwink and challenger Nancy VanderMeer will all be in attendance.
The format of the forum will be simple: La Crosse Tribune/Tomah Journal Editor Chris Hardie will moderate and ask questions compiled from the Chamber's Government Action committee as well as written questions from the floor. Each candidate will have a timed opportunity to answer the question. All questions from the audience will be collected in writing by Mr. Hardie prior to the beginning of the event.
"This is a highly charged election year and there is some confusion on the new districting," Chamber Executive Director Chris Hanson said. "The Chamber, Tomah Rotary and Tomah Journal want to make sure that everyone knows their new districts and who the candidates are. Hopefully this will allow many folks to vote for the best person available."
