Area Counties Get Disaster Declaration

(8-27-10)  The U-S Agriculture Department has declared three area Wisconsin counties as disaster areas due to crop damage from frost and freezing temperatures in the first half of May. Chippewa, Eau Claire, Trempealeau, join Door county in receiving their designations yesterday. Farmers in those areas and 11 adjacent counties can receive low-interest loans from the Farm Service Agency. And they have eight months to apply. Among the other eligible counties in the area are \Buffalo, Clark,  Jackson, and La Crosse. Winona County in Minnesota is also included.
