(10/6/12) The Badger Coulee High Voltage transmission line is now down to two routes for consideration.
According to the American Transmission Company and Xcel Engergy, the preferred route follows I-94 from Dane County to Black River Falls, west to Blair, and then south to Holmen. The alternate route runs north along the interstate to Portage, then through parts of Elroy, Cahston, Rockland and along I-90 through Onalaska to Holmen. Officials say the northern preferred route uses more than 90 percent of existing utility corridors. It would also cost more...about 500-million dollars.
