(10/15/12) The University of Wisconsin Extension will offer "Winning the Game: Launch and Land Your Post-Harvest Marketing Plan." This half-day workshop is filled with practical advice to help farmers write and execute a post-harvest marketing plan.
In "Winning the Game: Launch and Land Your Post-Harvest Marketing Plan," participants get a greater understanding of the seasonality of post-harvest grain prices, explore the marketing tools available to capture post-harvest "carry" premiums, and evaluate the risk of holding unpriced grain in storage. As part of the workshop, participants practice exit strategies in a fast-paced and fun market simulation.
"Through the marketing game, participants practice exit strategies and learn how to write up and execute an effective post-harvest marketing plan" explains Robert Craven, director of the University of Minnesota's Center for Farm Financial Management, the group that developed the workshop.
"Winning the Game: Launch and Land Your Post-Harvest Marketing Plan" will be held in two western Wisconsin locations. It is scheduled for Friday, November 9 from 11 am to 3 pm in the Community Room of the Strum library in Strum, and Friday, November 30 at Pokie's Place in Melrose 11 am – 3 pm.
