(10/18/12) Dr. Jeff Polzin, a family medicine physician for Krohn Clinic and Black River Memorial Hospital, has been recognized by the Wisconsin Medical Alumni Association. Dr. Polzin was awarded the Sigurd Sivertson Medical Education Award, which recognizes the contributions of individuals who provide care in their communities and educational opportunities for medical students in their community.
"Teaching helps prepare future providers for rural communities. Medical students complete rotations at the Ho Chunk Clinic, Krohn Clinic and Black River Memorial Hospital. It is a positive experience for all involved," says Polzin.
Students have recognized the physicians, nurses and support staff in Black River Falls for giving them a good deal of responsibility, being extremely helpful, and always being available to answer questions.
Dr. Polzin has served the Black River Falls area since 1981 as a family medicine physician. He is involved in the School of Medicine and Public Health's Wisconsin Academy for Rural Medicine. Dr. Polzin is also serving the community as a leader in the Friends of the Black River.
