Accused Camera Store Killer To Be Extradited

10-19-12

A Minnesota man accused of killing and robbing a camera store owner and his son in La Crosse will return to Wisconsin to face his charges.

39-year-old Jeffrey Lepsch of Dakota agreed to waive extradition yesterday during a court hearing in Winona. Prosecutors said he shot-and-killed 56-year-old Paul Petras and his 19-year-old son A-J on September 15th inside May’s Photo in downtown La Crosse. Police said they identified Lepsch’s vehicle by looking at the store’s surveillance video – and officers later found 14 stolen items from the shop during a search of his home. Authorities said he got away with 16-thousand-dollars in camera equipment during the incident. Lepsch remains in a Winona jail under a 10-million dollar bond, as authorities arrange his transfer to La Crosse County. A date for his first court appearance on the charges has not been set. He’s charged with two counts of first-degree intentional homicide, armed robbery by force, and possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
