(10/23/12) On October 23, 2012 at 00:14 the Jackson County Emergency Dispatch Center (EDC) paged the Black River Falls Fire Department for a structure fire at N3439 County Hwy X which is located in the Township of Irving and County of Jackson.
Upon arrival of the department that most of the fire had extinguished by one of the tenants living on the lower level of the two story wood frame structure.
The department overhauled the outside wall area looking for fire extension and only used about 75 gallons of water.
The fire cause may be related to electrical switches and wiring that was located inside the wall and along side the structures second level apartment door.
An estimated dollar loss is not known at this time.
The owner of the property is a Paul and Sandra Brady of Ettrick, WI.
The home was being rented by two separate families at the time of the fire.
The renters did not have insurance coverage and the American Red Cross was called to assist the families. It is not known at this time if the owners have insurance coverage on the property at this time.
The Department was on the fire scene for two (2) hours with ten (10) firefighters
The department was assisted with tenders from the Melrose, Merrillan, Hixton and Taylor Fire Departments. The Jackson County Sheriff's Department provided traffic control and direction. Black River Emergency Medical Service provided firefighter rehab and emergency medical standby.
One person was given medical attention (oxygen) by Black River EMS on the scene but was not transported. There were no injuries reported during the fire.
