(11/1/12) On September 11, 2012, Ho-Chunk Gaming Black River Falls presented a check to the Jackson County American Cancer Society to sponsor their Walk/Run on October 13, 2012.
This is the first year that they have been asked to sponsor and of course, they stepped up to help as they do with Monroe County's Relay for Life every year by presenting Kathryne Nelson, the ACS' Midwest Public Relations Representative a check for $2500.
"Being able to help out our fellow community members in Jackson County who are dealing with this terrible disease is something that we are always happy to do" says HCG-BRF Executive Manager, Greg Garvin. " This disease affects almost all of us in some way, whether it's one of us, our family members, co-workers or friends, we are always trying to find ways to help with a sponsorship or even with our employees joining the fight by starting a team for the Walk/Run." Angie Melbye, Team Captain for Ho-Chunk Gaming Black River Falls gave a speech at the opening ceremony bringing in the way that Cancer has affected her loved ones.
HCG-BRF will continue to support each year's Walk/Run as long as they have them and their employees will also support this cause by participating in the Walk/Run as they have done this year. The Ho-Chunk Nation employees within Jackson County will also be participating along with the Casino employees. Our team came in 3rd in fundraising for the Walk/Run by raising $1997. We are proud that between the Casino's donation and the fundraising done by the team we were able to give the Jackson County ACS area almost $4500!
