(12/8/12-Tony Hart) Parts of central and northern Wisconsin will get up to 4-to-6 inches in the first widespread snowfall of the season this weekend.
The southeastern part of the state will see a mix of rain and snow. As of this morning, the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for northwestern Wisconsin and a Winter Weather Advisory for Wabasha, Buffalo, Trempealeau, Pepin, Eau Claire, Clark, and Jackson Counties from midnight tonight to midnight Saturday night. Two to four inches is expected in the advisory area.
This weekend's winter storms will potentially cause some hazardous driving conditions. Wisconsin Emergency Management suggests a few steps in preparation: Have an Emergency Winter Weather Survival Kit in your vehicle, Check the roads before you leave by calling 511 or go to 511wi.gov and take your time if you have to travel, get supplies for your home in case of a power outage, and stay informed!
