The state D-N-R is taking public comments on a utility’s request to re-build part of a power line near a state trail in Chippewa County.
X-cel Energy wants to re-construct eight miles of an electric transmission line between Lake Wissota and Jim Falls. All but two miles of the line run along the Old Abe State Trail – and the utility would build taller poles, and put them 15-feet closer to the recreational paths. X-cel Energy has been negotiating for an easement, and the D-N-R says it does not expect any major environmental impact. The D-N-R is taking written and e-mailed comments on the project through February 12th.
