Area Ice fishermen are being urged by authorities to use caution as the end of the season approaches.

Most overnight shanties have to be removed from ice by this weekend, but anglers say the best fishing is yet to come.

Areas of Lake Onalaska still have 18 inches of ice.

Last year, warm weather ended the season early, but conditions this year are more like traditional winters

The DNR warns that ice levels can change rapidly.
