Auto Loans for Low Income Households

Are you someone who has a job, but doesn't have a vehicle to get there?  The Western Dairyland Community Action Agency's Work-n-Wheels program may be for you.

Work-n-Wheels offers interest-free loans for a vehicle purchase with a maximum limit of 43-hundred dollars. Residents of Buffalo, Jackson, Eau Claire, and Trempealeau counties are eligible if their household income is at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines.

According to Dale Karls, Western Dairyland's Communication Director, applicants must meet detailed criteria, but monthly payments would be set at 150-dollars.  Tax, title, registration fee, and a five percent administrative fee are due at the time of the loan signing.

Vehicles bought through the Work-n-Wheels program must install an "on-time device," a small black box which allows the vehicle to start for 30 days if the car's owner makes the required loan payments.

Over the past 12 years in Jackson County, Western Dairyland has helped more than 700 low-income families and individuals with automobile loans. For applications, income guidelines, and more details call 715-985-2391 extension 216 or log onto
