Foot of Snow in March Is Not Rare in Wisconsin

(3/4/13) This week's forecast for up to a foot of snow in Wisconsin is not as rare as you might think for the month of March.

The National Weather Service says about a quarter of the Top-25 snowstorms in La Crosse's history have occurred in March – and that goes for both one-day storms and two-day totals. La Crosse is expected to get 10-and-a-half inches from this afternoon through tomorrow night. If that holds true, it would be only the 12th-largest two-day storm for March. About the southern third of Wisconsin is expected to get up to 10-inches of snow from the new storm. Parts of southwest Wisconsin could get up to a foot, and west central and northwest areas are bracing for up to 10 more inches.
