(4/2/13) Once a month, employees of Black River Memorial Hospital dress down for a local charity, one of those is the Jackson County 4-H.

4-H serves families in 13 community clubs and 2 afterschool sites in Jackson County. Children in Kindergarten through one year after high school benefit from this program which helps children to learn and compete in cultural arts, sewing, cooking, animal projects, shooting sports, community service and more. Life skills and leadership development are taught across age groups and genders.

Monica Lobenstein, 4-H Youth Development Agent with Jackson County UW-Extension says, "Our goal is to help our 4-H youth to become positive, contributing members of society. Families are as involved as they can be; 4-H is very flexible with busy schedules. We are grateful to the staff of Black River Memorial Hospital for thinking of us."

To join 4-H, residents of Jackson County can contact the UW-Extension office at 715-284-4257
