Tomah VA to Host Sexual Trauma Workshop

TOMAH, Wis. – The Tomah Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, in recognition of
Military Sexual Trauma Awareness month, will host a recovery from military sexual trauma
workshop on April 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Building 407 on the Tomah VA campus.

 The all-day workshop features keynote speaker Col. (ret) Jill Chambers, motivational speaker
and survivor of the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon. Dr. Cindy Keene, psychologist and military
sexual trauma coordinator, will talk about the process of recovery through psychotherapy, and
Dr. Beth Lindner, psychologist and nurse practitioner, will explain how medications are used in
the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from MST. Compensation and pension benefits
will also be covered. Additionally, workshop attendees will have the opportunity to complete a
craft for recovery project.
